  For: perpetuating the memory of the defeat of the Khmer Rouge and the victorious entry into Phnom Penh by the Cambodian forces on 7 January 1979
  Design: gilt breast badge, 36mm across, with suspension ribbon
    Obverse: the five towered Angkor Wat in the center, a portion of a cogwheel below, with rays coming out of it like a sun, and palm leaves on either side, with a Khmer inscription along the edge “Decoration, 7 January”;
    Reverse: plain
  Ribbon: 36mm; blue 3mm, red 2mm, blue 1mm, red 2mm, blue 1mm, red 18mm, blue 1mm, red 2mm, blue 1mm, red 2mm, blue 3mm (the same ribbon as the one on the previous People's Socialist Community Medal)
  Device: on the service bar only, a small gilt Angkor Wat device

The medal is rare – awarded 100 times with 300 medals being struck.
